Hello, my name is Ashlee Ackelson and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. I have been in the mental health field for the past seventeen years and received my graduate degree from the Graduate School for Social Work at the University of Denver in 2010 and completed a two year post-graduated intensive certificate program through the Denver Institute of Psychoanalysis in Psychodyamic Psychotherapy. Prior to getting my graduate degree, I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Neuroscience and Psychology as a double major at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania.
I believe that addressing life difficulties can be overwhelming, stressful and isolating. It takes a lot of courage to think about ways to overcome your obstacles, but doing it alone may not be enough. Regardless of how stuck you may feel, it is possible to experience some freedom from the things that weigh you down. Pursing psychotherapy is the first step to experience change in your life. My goal is to provide an empathic, safe, and understanding environment to help clients work through their difficulties together. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that can help clients have a better understanding of what is really the matter. The goal is to figure out what has not become evident for you in order to pursue change. By working together, we can help you find greater joy, freedom and satisfaction in your life.
